National Apprenticeship Week 2026

During National Apprenticeship Week 2026, we caught up with Oliver one of our Electrician Apprentices to find out how he was finding everything so far and to get some advice for anyone looking to do a similar apprenticeship.

Oliver started his course in September last year after spending a few months in the business gaining some insights into what a day would look like as an Electrical apprentice with Edencroft.

Oliver shares his thoughts;

What are you enjoying most about your apprenticeship?

I’m starting to get the grasp of things and seeing things start to make sense with what I’m doing. Seeing everything come together makes me feel like I’m achieving things.

What made you want to be an electrician?

Construction always appealed to me, and I thought being an Electrician was the best option because it requires the most thought when doing hard tasks, so it makes it the most fulfilling.

What do you like most about Edencroft?

I like the people that I work with, I don’t dread coming to work and I get on with everyone I work with which makes the day go quicker and I just enjoy my job.

What are you finding challenging with the apprenticeship?

Probably learning everything although it’s a good thing some things are hard to get your head round. College can be hard learning stuff there but it’s rewarding to get through it.

Do you have any advice wanting to do an apprenticeship?

You’ve got to be committed, you can’t go into it not really enjoying it or really caring you’ve got to really want to do the career.

Peter Croft, Edencroft’s MD added;

“Our apprentices; Will and Ollie are becoming a real asset to the business, and our long turn investment will hopefully produce two very loyal and well-trained electricians for the future growth of the business. By fostering home-grown talent we are able to help shape our apprentices to our own specific company cultures and high standards.”
